Meet Matthew Bowker, Junior PHP Developer at FMTC!
How long have you worked at FMTC? What is your current role?
I have been with FMTC since April 2019. My role on paper is Junior PHP Developer, but my job is better described as “finder and squasher of bugs.” If any of our software is acting weird, I’m probably looking into it.
What do you like most about your job?
FMTC is an incredible company to work for! My manager is very supportive, and I’m challenged every day I log in to work. Every day is new and varied, and I love the environment of this small company.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Own both your mistakes and your successes. By acknowledging mistakes, you can learn to be better. By acknowledging successes, you can see how far you’ve come.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
My wife and I are both avid outdoor enthusiasts. We enjoy hiking and camping in the beautiful Colorado mountains. I also volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and my local ham radio club.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I am a member of my county’s search and rescue team. As an Eagle Scout, I developed a great love for the outdoors, and that carried over into wanting to help people explore the outdoors safely.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
I don’t know if they count as things, but my kitty cats — the greyish one is named Kanga, and the black-and-white cat is named Haru. Both provide support, give unconditional love, and occasionally get in the way.
Where is your hometown?
I was born and raised in Monument, Colorado.
